By the late 1700's there was a Taylor family living in Wilkinson County, Mississippi. My ancestor was John Barney Taylor. John Barney Taylor was married to Frances Smith and they had two known children, possibly born in Mississippi:
Dillis Taylor, born ca. 1773
Delany Taylor, born ca. 1775
John Barney Taylor moved his family into Saint Landry Parish, Louisiana after 1804. When he died is unknown, but his widow Frances Smith Taylor remarried Gilbert Sweat (ca. 1758-May 25, 1830). Frances died in 1829 in Saint Landry Parish.
