SKIDMORE

The Skidmore Family I'm researching is my mother's family. This family came out of West Virginia
around 1792 and settled in Kentucky. By 1810 they were well established in Henry County, Kentucky.

My ancestor, William Skidmore, was born April 16, 1823 in Henry County, Kentucky. He was a son of James Skidmore and Susanna McEnder. William Skidmore moved with his family after 1840 to northeastern Brown County, and southern Johnson Counties in Indiana. William Skidmore married Lucinda Mitchell on December 17, 1846 in Brown County, Indiana. They had eight children.

My current genealogical project is to determine what became of these eight children and any descendants. The following are the families I seek:

James Alexander Skidmore, born ca. June 1848 in either Brown or Johnson County, Indiana. James married Sarah Isobel Wildman in Piatt County, Illinois on November 23, 1871. James died in California, possibly in the Fresno area about 1918. His widow, Sarah, is believed to have died in 1927 in Newkirk, Kay County, Oklahoma. They had nine children:

Oliver P. Skidmore, born ca. April 1866 in Brown County, Indiana. He married Tracy Day on March 30, 1890 in Champaign, Illinois. He married secondly, Lucy Hook, in August 1905 in Douglas County, Illinois. Oliver P. Skidmore died around October 1919, possibly in western Indiana around Vigo County. He had these known children:
